Chateau interiors (basic tour)

Tour of the refurbished and restored salons in both wings with a guide. The rooms have furniture from the late 18th century and demonstrate high aristocrat living at a country residence. The tour also includes a visit to the recently restored ballroom with exotic wall paintings by Anton Tuvora.

The tour of the chateau takes visitors through the restored rooms of the front château and through four restored rooms in the rear château. In the arcade loggia, visitors enjoy a large number of prints with plant motifs taken from the botanical atlas of the Regensburg pharmacist Wienmann from the year 1737.  Plant motifs in various forms accompany the entire château exhibition. Floral ornament can be seen on furniture, the Venetian chandeliers, wall murals and oil paintings. Also on display in individual lounges presenting the way of life at the turn of the nineteenth century are collections of porcelain, prints and Rococo and Classicist furniture. The Bird Room recalls the Baroque popularity of bird illustrations. The room also has small porcelain bird and butterfly figurines on display. The tour route includes the Music Salon with Rococo Revival furniture from the second half of the nineteenth century and a set of porcelain statues of musical composers and poets.
The tour then proceeds to the rear château, which was created by the partial reconstruction of the original Renaissance water fortress. Unlike the front château, the layout and dimensions of the rear wing in today’s form provided a more formal setting for the aristocratic residents. The rear château features a large dance hall, the château’s Chapel of St Anthony (extending into the upper floor) and a large kitchen on the ground floor.  Visitors can see the restored Hunting Lounge, small Černín family dining room and the Green Lounge. The highpoint of the tour is the Dance Hall with a newly restored ceiling and wall paintings by Antonín Tuvora.
